Support for Tribal Communities

All year long, the AIF collects and distributes donations of food, clothing, diapers, household items, and more to bring to various reservations. During cold winter months we use our emergency fund to help pay utility bills for elders and those in need.

We develop young adult programs that provide computers to students to encourage them to pursue a complete education, as many fall behind and drop out. Our goal is to help our people where they are: through opportunities, money, food or whatever serves them best.

MMIWM (Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Men)

Alleviating violence on reservations is a mission of MMIWM. When fossil fuel extraction takes place on tribal lands, companies bring hundreds of non-native workers and house them in “man camps” which has been a focus of MMIWM. In general, statistics show that 4 in 5 native women have experienced physical violence, and more than 1 in 2 have suffered sexual violence. 96% of these assaults are carried out by workers from the man camps.

AIF supports programs sponsored by MMIWM to bring awareness on the reservations and eradicate the problem of violence to help future generations thrive. MMIWM offers education, awareness, and self-defense classes along with offering emotional support for families who are processing grief.

To support our various community programs such as the Lakota Equine Therapy, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), please consider a donation today.
